The history of PAPAPOSTOLOU

1914

Athanasios Papapostolou establishes in Thessaloniki the homonymous medical and paramedical products company. Until the 1950s, the company was the only one of its kind in Northern Greece. Everything offered was for the sole purpose of caring the supreme good of Health

1928

After the fire of 1917, resulting into the total burning down of the business, the tireless businessman Athanasios Papapostolou made a new start by setting up the business on Egnatia Ave., next to the church of Agios Athanasios, until 1928, when he builds the well-recognized own store. In the basement, there is a workshop where belts, corsets, brassieres are made, as well as artificial members.

1961

Nikos Papapostolou extends the medical department of the family business, specializing in Nursing Units.

1963

Following the rapid advances of technology in medical science occurring in the 60’s, PAPAPOSTOLOU company expands its activity to Athens.

1968

The company’s headquarters are transferred to a new exhibition site in Thessaloniki, in the Sindrivani Square. For historical reasons and to honor the family tradition, the company is still headquartered in Thessaloniki.

1994

All activities in Athens are transferred to a state-of-the-art privately owned building of 2,200 m2. in Neo Psychiko.

2004

The PAPAPOSTOLOU company is selected as the Official Licensed Medical Equipment Provider of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games of ATHENS 2004.

2005

The first major turn-key project of the company abroad: Delivery of Equipment of NATO’s mobile unit in Kabul, Afghanistan. February The company holds a celebration event at the Athens Concert Hall to honor its 90th anniversary.

2007

Papapostolou Srl Romania is established.

2008

Creation of Papapostolou Bulgaria

2008

Signing a contract with the Romanian Ministry of Health for the supply of 111 anesthesia machines to 65 Public Hospitals around the country.

2014

PAPAPOSTOLOU S.A. completes a century of unceasing offer in Health.

2016

Establishment of a branch in Chania, Crete. In addition to the branches in Thessaloniki, Athens and Chania, the company also sustains a specialized network of associates in Ioannina, Patras, Heraklion, Larissa and Kozani, thus ensuring the nationwide coverage of its activities. Signing a contract with the Romanian Ministry of Health for the supply, installation and technical support of 749 monitoring units and 36 central stations in 42 Public Hospitals in the country.

2017

With know-how, experience and tradition of more than 100 years, PAPAPOSTOLOU is the largest Greek distributor and technical support company for high technology medical equipment.

2020

Papapostolou d.o.o. – Belgrade is established.
